Did you watch the debate last night? It came as no surprise that Hillary breezed through with intelligence and grace. The night before, my nephew had given Trixie this beautiful book, Hillary Rodham Clinton: Some Girls Are Born To Lead. At the end of the book, the author and illustrator show the former senator and secretary of state in a sea of notable women from all walks of life: the arts, diplomacy, justice, activism, sports, etc. I love that my girls get to see celebrations of women who lead in every field so that they understand that the whole world is open to them. They already have books on Rosa Parks and Ruby Bridges, as well as Malala. Up next, I'm hoping to get them this new Notorious RBG book. (It's called I Dissent, so I may be asking for trouble, particularly with Irish.) If you know of any fabulous children's books about women who changed the world, I'd love to hear about them.
