That '70s Weekend
Say what you will about the 1970s, but they were the decade that gave us this picture of Bianca Jagger riding a white horse around Studio 54, at a birthday party given for her by Halston. The confluence of all those things alone makes a great case for 1977, at the very least.
The photos on display at Omaha's Durham Museum during Searching for the '70s: The Documerica Photography Project (through 30.April), represent the decade in its entirety and will probably be a bit more quotidian. But they should be good fun (and may even provide some #resist inspo, if you're into that sort of thing).
If you go this weekend (24/25.Feb), why not also hit EXTREME, a huge, annual beer festival at the Ralston Arena. This year, the festival's hosts, Beer Corner USA, have teamed up with Pints for Prostates to run the silent disco. If you haven't been to a silent disco yet, you really need to get you some. Not only are they a blast, and go with a '70s exhibition like a pineapple wedge goes with a Singapore sling, but the proceeds from this particular one go to help men with prostate cancer. Dance good, do good.
When you need something to soak it all up, head down to Nite Owl in the Blackstone, which is open 'till 2 a.m., has fab, gourmet bar food (plenty of veg and vegan options), and is decorated so '70s that you'd swear someone is playing seven minutes in heaven on the premises.
